ADL Assistance

What Does ADL Assistance Entail?

Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) is a term that is used to describe self-care activities that we perform on a normal daily basis. These include activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, etc. to name a few. Within the Healthcare Professional realm, the ability or inability to perform Activities of Daily Living can be a measurement of a person’s function and independence.

Activities of Daily Living

While basic categories of ADLs have been suggested, what specifically constitutes a particular ADL in a particular environment for a particular person may vary. Above and Beyond Home Health Care has designed our services to enhance the dignity and independence for those who may need assistance with any Activity of Daily Living.

Basic ADLs consist of self-care tasks, including:

  • Bathing
  • Personal hygiene and grooming (Oral Care, Hair & Skin Care)
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Feeding oneself
  • Functional transfers, i.e. Getting out of bed
  • Voluntarily controlling urinary and fecal discharge
  • Ambulation (Walking or using a wheelchair)
  • Range of Motion Assistance
